Unplug mains cable from computer, press on button to clear MB of any lingering charge, removed CMOS battery, waited 30 seconds, replaced CMOS battery and mains cable. In truth there was a bug affecting the motherboard and after reading on the internet the fix was : I'm in the UK and my ISP diagnosed a faulty router, while the computer said the Ethernet cable was not installed or faulty - both were completely wrong! It had been working happily for 16 months.

On a Gigabyte GA-H81M-H MB with windows 10 64 bit the Ethernet suddenly stopped working (no lights red/green plus amber on MB adjacent to Ethernet port).

Can you swap ethernet cables to a different one and restart the pc? Also, double check that the ethernet connection on your pc and router are securely pushed in, with little to no room for them to wiggle around.
